Patrols

At Broulee Surfers lifesaving is at the heart of what we do and we encourage our members to participate in patrolling duties. Members are given opportunities to further their skills or pass on their lifesaving knowledge to others.

South Broulee Beach (Bengello Beach) is one of the most popular Far South Coast beaches for families, surfers, bathers, locals and visitors alike. Volunteer lifesavers in red and yellow, patrol the beach and keep people safe all through summer.

Broulee Surfers SLSC has a volunteer patrol group rostered every weekend and public holiday from September to April each year. On weekdays during this period the beach is patrolled by Eurobodalla Shire Council Life Guards.

Patrolling Members are provided a patrolling uniform from SLSA, consisting of a yellow shirt, red shorts and cap which is to be worn whilst on patrol.

Want to know how many hours you have or when you are patrolling?

Patrol members can also download the SLSA Operations App to view their patrol roster. The app is available on iOS/Apple, Android devices and Web. The app allows clubs, lifeguards and support services to manage their real-time operations and record patrol hour attendance and statistics electronically.

Patrol requirements

Each year, every patrolling and competitive member is required to complete an annual re-qualification in their life saving skills.  This is a great opportunity to refresh and update your skills.

The ‘requal’ includes a run–swim–run, resuscitation skills, signals and rescue techniques.

Dates and times of proficiency tests will be advised and it is the sole responsibility of the member to ensure this test is completed and proficiency confirmed.
