Peter Cook "Cookie" Surfboat
The Peter Cook “Cookie” Surfboat was purchased in 2005. It was named after our Broulee Surf Boat Captain who was tragically killed in a motorbike accident in 2003.
Peter was the Club’s Surfboat Captain from 1999 to 2003.
Peter gained sponsorship for a new Surfboat from the Tradies Club in Canberra in 1997. This was a South Coast built Surfboat. After his passing this boat had “In memory of Cookie” on the splash deck. This boat is still used in Canberra for training and for marathon racing.
A new Peter Cook boat was acquired in 2005 and Peter’s name was across the front hull. It was christened on Broulee beach after a surfboat carnival by his wife Dominque Cook and his three children. The boat was raced at Broulee and swept by Rob Pollock for many years. The boat is still owned by the Club in 2024 and used for training.
There is a memorial oar in the Broulee Clubhouse showing Peter’s achievements in surfboat racing.
