Peter McKay "Fuzzy" IRB
Peter “Fuzz” McKay has been an active patrol member of the Club for 35 years. He served as the Club’s Power Boat Officer from 2009 to 2021 and Power Boat Vice-Captain from 2021 to 2024.
Peter was elected as a Life Member of the Club in 2013. He has won Far South Coast Branch awards for Surf Sports Champion and Branch Competitor of the Year in 2015 and 2017.
Over the years Peter has successfully managed and developed the Club’s IRB fleet to four boats and six motors, maintaining them in excellent condition and rescue ready.
The naming of the Fuzzy IRB
The Fuzzy IRB was named at the NSW IRB Carnival on Broulee Beach in 2023 in a memorable ceremony. The Club asked Peter to unpack the newly arrived IRB from its crate — a task he had completed many times before. At one stage of the unpack, Peter stood stunned as he peered at the front of the IRB to find his own name displayed: the “Peter Fuzz McKay The Fuzzy Duck” IRB.
Peter then got to pour the sparkling wine over the front of the boat as his friends and family celebrated around him — a well-deserved honour for a tireless contributor to the Club.
